How to Get Your Child to Drink More Water at School

How to Get Your Child to Drink More Water at School

Are your kids drinking enough water while at school? Staying hydrated helps kids stay focused, prevents dehydration, aids nutrient transport and has been shown to improve academic performance. School-aged kids should be drinking at least six to eight glasses of water each day.

One of the easiest ways to get your kids to drink more water is to make it a more fun and enjoyable experience. This can be done through improving the sensory experience of drinking water. We have introduced a range of Frank Green's ceramic reusable water bottles into our online store as these flasks are one of my (and my girls’) favourites for encouraging children and teens to drink more water throughout the school day.

Improving the Sensory experience of drinking water

Taste

Taste is one of the most important factors in getting your kids to drink more waterPlastic water bottles can leach chemicals into the water if stored for a long period, retain the taste of other drinks and begin to lose their temperature immediately, all of which make water taste worse.

We have stocked Frank Green water bottles and they are ceramic lined which improves water taste, triple wall vacuum insulated ensuring water stays ice cold all day long and made of stainless steel which doesn’t retain any previous odours or flavours ensuring your kids water will taste as good as possible.

    Visually Appealing

Bright colours and fun designs on water bottles are more likely to catch kids' eye during the school day and encourage the drink from their bottle more often. Frank Green's  water bottles come in a range of engaging colours such as cloud, buttermilk, blushed, lilac haze and neon pink.

Fun designs for younger children: For younger kids who need something more engaging try the monster inspired Franksters collection where each bottle comes with its own monster design. To help with this, encourage your kids to keep their water bottles on their desk throughout the day (if allowed).

      Auditory Experience

Try adding Ice: To engage your child’s auditory senses try adding ice! The clinking sound of ice in a stainless steel bottle is novel and can make drinking water more engaging for kids. Kids are more likely to respond to multi sensory experiences so adding the clinking sound of ice to better tasting water and a more visually appealing bottle is likely to encourage kids to drink more.

          Straw Texture

Straw for texture: Frank Green Water bottles contain a flip up straw. The straw is made with a soft-feel mouthpiece, making the drinking experience more pleasant as it is gentle on teeth and gums which is especially important for younger kids. It also makes sipping throughout the day easier as all you have to do is slide the button and the mouthpiece will flip up for easy one-handed hydration.
