These Homemade Fruit Jellies are the perfect nutritious snack! This recipe is so easy and fun to make with the children and a healthy alternative to shop bought jellies for a toddler.They are full of fruit and vegetable juices which are so beneficial to your little one!Â
Makes:Â 20 x Jellies
Ingredients:
230ml fruit or vegetable juice - I used apple and orange juice
4 tbsp powdered gelatin
2 tbsp of honey (not suitable for babies under 1 year)
Silicone moulds (optional)
Food colour options:
Orange – orange juice
Yellow – apple juice
Green – 1 handful of spinach (To use as a liquid: boil spinach with enough water to cover for 5 minutes. Drain and add spinach to a blender. Blend with a little of the cooking water until smooth. Strain and store for up to 2 weeks in your portion pots.)
Red – 1 beetroot, steamed (To use as a liquid: blended and strain beetroot. Store for up to 2 weeks in your portion pots.)
- Pour the juice into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the powdered gelatin over the liquid and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Stir the juice and gelatin to combine. Heat the mixture over a medium heat until the gelatin is completely dissolved but do not let boil. Turn off the heat.
- Stir in the honey and let it dissolve. Pour the mixture into silicone molds or your Mummy Cooks Portion Pots. We used the portion pot size 1oz/4m.
- Place in the fridge for 2-3 hours to set.
- Your homemade fruit jellies can be stored in our portion pots for about 1 week either at room temperature or in the fridge.
