We are now on the third week of weaning onto solids and it looks like Catriona had a breakthrough with baby Maeve. After simply changing the spoon from a soft to a hard tip, she started accepting food. This shows that starting before six months really helps to get your baby used to feeding. Now Catriona is set up for all that is ahead from six months on.
Baby Maeve: 5 months 3 weeks
Solid Food: Week 3
Meals/Portions: 2 Meals Midday Meal & Breakfast - 4-6 Month Weaning Pots from the Starter Weaning Set

“We had a breakthrough! It has been an exciting week for Maeve. We were still not getting very far with feeding so during the week I decided to try a different spoon from a soft tip to a hard tip and what a difference it has made. It was like she suddenly could feel there was something in her mouth. She began to suck the food off the spoon and opened her mouth ready for the next bite. She couldn’t get enough!
We then felt we were ready to introduce her second meal - breakfast. Here is a look at her schedule. We feel it is working for us
7 am – Milk
8 am – Breakfast
9 am – Nap
11 am – Milk
12/12:30 – Dinner
1 pm – Nap
4 pm – Milk
7 pm – Milk and Bed
11 pm- Milk - Dream feed
New tastes this week included Apple, Prune and Cinnamon, Banana and Avocado as well as Carrot and Chicken. Each day she is becoming more familiar with the activity and is showing more and more interest and excitement in the food. We feel like we have really moved forward this week”
